John was like an uncle to my sister Katie and me, as he was such a close friend of our father’s. Our trips to upstate NY always included a stop at the Wellman homestead, where we have many happy memories of splashing around in the pool, playing with dogs, and enjoying Pepe’s pizza. Another fun tradition was our annual "Wienie-Fest" hot dog lunches whenever John and Karen came to visit us at Lake George. John's big, goofy laugh was truly infectious, and his presence brought light and joy to every occasion.
Rest in peace, dear “Uncle Johnny.” You will be missed and fondly remembered by your Oak Leaf extended family.

Karen, Becky and very sorry for your loss. Being from Verona too I’ve known John for a very long time. In elementary school even remember going to his home for lunch a couple of times. It’s always been great to see John since then, always friendly with a great sense of humor. He will be missed. Rest in peace John.

John was a great friend for 65 years, from our junior high school days through the years of trips and annual great times with our spouses and other pals. Always with his ever-present grin and chuckle, he was my big guy to count on for anything. Especially lots of "grins". We will miss him terribly and we share all of our love and condolences to his bride Karen and brother Howie.
