Elaine G. Crane Obituary

Elaine Gail Mayo Crane, age 93, of Westmoreland, New York, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2025. Born on August 27, 1931 in Brewer, Maine, the youngest of 6 children of Joseph Mayo and Amelia Jones Mayo, she graduated from Brewer High School in 1949 and later married Airman 1st Class, USAF, Philip John Crane (deceased) of Boston on December 10, 1955.


Elaine is survived by her daughter Michelle McDermott (David) of Melbourne, FL, her son Christopher Crane (Debra) of Westmoreland, NY, granddaughter Jennifer Dickson (Nick) of Avoca, NY, granddaughter Elizabeth Schiavi (Matthew) of Frankfort, NY, as well as 2 great granddaughters (Savannah Dickson, Taylor Dickson), 2 great grandsons (Vincent Schiavi, Blake Dickson), 9 nieces, and 8 nephews.


Elaine was an active member of Holy Family Church, a very loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She was a kind and caring Eureka Road neighbor and she loved all animals, especially her many cats. Over the years she participated in PTO and Girl Scouts.


Visitation will be at Malecki Funeral Home, 23 Front Street, Vernon, NY on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 10:30 am at Spirit of Hope Holy Family Catholic Church, 4352 Peterboro Street, Vernon, NY. Spring burial will be in Thomaston Village Cemetery, Thomaston, Maine.In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either Stevens-Swan Humane Society - 5664 Horatio Street, Utica, NY 13502 or Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corps / COCVAC – 7489 East South Street, Clinton, NY 13323.
