Obituary of Wayne G. Seamon

Vernon Center-Wayne G. Seamon, age 60, of Vernon Center passed away Wednesday afternoon March 19, 2025 after a courageous year-long battle with nasopharyngeal cancer.

  He was born on January 17, 1965 a son of Clayton “Sonney” and Rita (Durant) Seamon and was a Vernon Verona Sherrill School graduate.

  As a young man Wayne enjoyed going to the stockcar races with his father and followed in Sonney’s footsteps becoming an excellent mechanic, welder and fabricator and was the operator of Sonney’s Repair in Vernon Center. He also enjoyed socializing with his friends, snowmobiling and swimming.

  Surviving is his mother Rita M. Seamon of Vernon Center, two sisters, Diana (Scott) Henry of Oneida and Sherry Lemieux of Vernon Center, nieces, Cori, Claire, Sophia, Naomi and nephew Clayton, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

  Wayne was predeceased by his father Clayton “Sonney” Seamon and brother Paul Seamon.

  The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Vigneswaran Kandiah and the staff at the Upstate Cancer Center for their compassionate care given to Wayne during his illness

  Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon, NY. A funeral service service will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home and burial will follow in St. Helena’s Cemetery, 1776 Middle Road, Oneida, New York.
