Earl "John" Reed Obituary

Clinton-Earl "John" Reed, age 80, of Clinton passed away early Friday morning March 28, 2025 in Wynn Hospital.


He was born on April 6, 1944 in Buffalo, New York a son of the late Earl A. and Marion J. McCann Reed and was a graduate of the Vernon Verona Sherrill High School and Morrisville College where "John" received his associates degree in food services.


"John" enlisted in the United States Navy in 1964 where he served as a Senior Chef retiring from the Navy in 1986.


On June 9, 1967 he married the love of his life Velma Charlene Sanders in San Diego, California and shared that loving vow of over fifty-seven years together until Charlene's death on August 29, 2024.


"John" was a member of the International Food Service Executives and the New Hartford American Legion Post. He cherished his time spent with his family.


Surviving are his two daughters; Sheri (Duane) Edmonds, and Michele Compoli; his grandchildren, Koree, Brina, Elijah, Anthony, Patrick, Danielle, Jason, and Dylan; his five great grandchildren; one sister Nancy (Leo) Bitz, and two brothers Dave Reed and Eric Reed.


He is predeceased by his wife Velma Charlene Reed and granddaughter, Jalynn.


Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday April 2, 2025 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc. 464 Sherrill Rd., Sherrill, NY. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Helena's Cemetery, 1776 Middle Road, Oneida, NY.
