Obituary of Sheilah Ann Gotie
Sheilah beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed peacefully with loving family by her side on May 5 2025.
Born in Brooklyn NY to Thomas E. & Mary Ann McCabe
Sheilah was a graduate of Utica Free Academy class of 1965.
In August of 1979 she married George A. Gotie and they enjoyed 47 happy years together with many laughs and great memories.
She was employed by the Bank Of New York/BNY Melon in Oriskany from 1989-2019 and in her 30 years there she never missed a day of work. A devout Irish Catholic. She always made a point to emphasize IRISH. Anyone who knew Sheilah, loved her, never short of words Sheilah had an ability to start a conversation with a complete stranger and know their family history by the time the conversation was over. Always the life of the party she had great sense of humor and unmatched thoughtfulness, she was always baking cookies, tending to her flower gardens or on one of her daily walks with her dear friends and neighbors Celeste, Jackie and Charlene who she will be missed by dearly.
Sheilah was one of a kind and that's why our hearts are broken today.
She is survived by her 3 sons Ryan W. Farmer, George A. Gotie Jr, Kevin M. Gotie. Granddaughter Caitlynn M. Farmer,
Husband George A. Gotie Sr., sister Valerie Lagalbo, brothers and sister in laws Rick and Robin Gotie of Sauquoit, Robert and Mary Ann Gotie of Truxton and many nieces and nephews.
