Obituary of Lorraine E. Cook

Lorraine E. Cook was 74 and a lifetime resident of Oneida who passed away Sunday evening May 25, 2025 in Oneida Healthcare where she was a patient.

  She was born on February 4th, 1951 a daughter of the late Bruce and Rosemary Cook and attended Oneida Schools.

 She was employed at Hood in Vernon and worked there for 36 years. After retiring from Hood Lorraine worked for the Oneida Dispatch Pennysaver for a couple of years.

  Lorraine enjoyed talking to people. She was a kind and very sweet soul. She loved animals. She left her beloved dog Bandit. She was of Catholic faith. She very much enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and taking long rides.

  Surviving her are her sister Rosemarie and Jerome Smith of Oneida, her niece Jennifer Hoffman and her three daughters, Natalie, Olivia, and Violet Hoffman. Her niece Kristie and Scott Weese of Medina, her nephew Howard and Ashley Philo, along with his children Ryan, Kaylin, and Jackson Philo. Her nephew Ronald Smith and Maleka, her niece Karrie King and Steve Collins and their daughter Cora, and her nephew Darrell Lerch, Augusta and daughters Savannah and Lennox, and son Cooper, as well as her aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lorraine is also survived by her boyfriend of many years Melvin Phillips.

  Lorraine was pre-deceased by her beloved brother Bruce Cook and sister Paula Straton.

 Thank you to all the ICU nurses and doctors who gave Lorraine excellent care.

Arrangements are with the Malecki Funeral Home of Sherrill. There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday June 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Spirit of Hope St. Joseph Church, 121 St. Joseph Place, Oneida, NY.
