Douglas E. Russell Obituary

Oriskany Falls-Douglas passed away unexpectedly Saturday evening August 2, 2025 at his home.

He was born on February 10, 1959 in Utica, NY, to the late Willard and Betty (Lewis) Russell. He spent his early years in Clinton and was a1976 graduate of Clinton Central High School.

Doug married the love of his life, Jennifer L. Goodsell, on October 3, 1992 at the Clinton United Methodist Church. Their union was blessed with twin sons in 2002 – Cameron and Codi. They were Doug’s greatest joy.

Prior to his retirement Doug was a stainless-steel welder with Feldmeier Equipment of Syracuse. He was a member of the American Legion Post 404, Vernon.

Doug was a humble man who loved his family with everything he had. The kind of guy who would greet everyone with a smile. If you were looking for Doug, he could be found at one of his boys’ sporting events, never considering how far the location was from home. Doug was also a fixture at motocross races riding his pit bike around the track to get up close to watch his son race. And, after a race he was sure to have a warm fire and good conversation ready for whomever stopped by. He was immensely proud of his sons. Doug (and Jenny) were their biggest supporters.

Surviving is his loving wife, Jennifer, twin sons, Codi D. Russell and Cameron F. Russell, his siblings and their spouses, James and Janice Russell, Debra and Robert Crawford, Ronald and Laurie Russell, sister-in-law Mary Russell, a special brother-in-law and wife, Jay and Karin Goodsell, a longtime friend who was like a brother, Sal Vullo, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Doug was predeceased by his parents Willard and Betty, brother Robert Russell, in-laws Floyd and Louise Goodsell.

In keeping with Doug’s wishes there will be no public services. He will be laid to rest at a private service in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vernon, NY. Online condolences may be sent to maleckifuneralhome.com

When I look to the sky, I will think of you. Fly high my love! Until we meet again, I will take care of things down here.  Jenny
