Vernon Center-Rita M. Seamon, age 83, of Vernon Center passed away Saturday evening September 13, 2025 in Wynn Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on November 12, 1941 in Verona, New York a daughter of the late Wesley and Carolyn (Nash) Durant and was a graduate of Vernon Verona Sherrill Schools.

On November 26, 1959 Rita and Clayton "Sonney" Seamon were united in marriage in St. Catherine's Church in Vernon, New York and shared that sacred vow until "Sonney's" death on May 27, 1994.

Rita was a private home health aide; a career that brought her much joy being able to help other people.

She was a faithful member of Holy Family Church of Vernon. In her spare times she enjoyed gardening and being with her family at their camp at Beaver River Station.

Surviving are her two daughters, Diana (Scott) Henry of Oneida and Sherry Lemieux of Vernon Center, grandchildren, Cori, Clare, Sophia, Naomi and Clayton, sisters, Carol (David) Way of Verona, Jean (John) Chmielewski of Oneida, Donna (Richard) Zimmerman of Verona, brother Warren (Ann) Durant of Verona, sisters-in-law Frances Durant and Sharon Durant of Verona and many nieces and nephews.

Rita was predeceased by her husband Clayton "Sonney" Seamon, sons, Paul and Wayne Seamon, sisters Joy Twiss, Florence Richards, Nancy Eastman, brothers, Stanley, Dale, Peter and Jerry.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 19, 2025 at 12:00 noon at Spirit of Hope Holy Family Church, 4352 Peterboro Street, Vernon, NY, 13476. Burial will be in St. Helena's Cemetery, Oneida, NY, Online condolences may be sent to maleckifuneralhome.com
