Lakeland, FL-Sherrill- Richard K. “Rick” Tarry a former Sherrill resident passed away unexpectedly Monday September 15, 2025 in Lakeland Fl from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

  Rick was born on November 8, 1959 in Oneida, New York a son of Robert J. and Mary E. (Tallman) Tarry and was a graduate Vernon Verona Sherrill High School where he played on many of the school’s sports teams.

  Prior to his retirement Rick was employed for many years with the Oneida Limited Silversmiths and later with Maines Food Distribution. After retirement Rick moved to Lakeland Florida where he enjoyed the warm Florida weather, swimming and times spent on the sandy beaches. When not on the beach he could be found watching sporting events on television.

  Surviving is his mother Mary E. Tarry of Sherrill, his siblings Robert (Deb) Tarry of Sherrill, Ron (Brenda) Tarry of Sherrill, and Karen Tarry of Oneida and many nieces and nephews and many friends including a longtime friend Mike (Kano) Keenan.

  Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 464 Sherrill Rd., Sherrill, NY. A prayer service will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. in St. Patricks’ Cemetery, 1193 Fairview Ave. Oneida, NY. The family will gather after the burial at the Sherrill American Legion, 168 E. Seneca Street, Sherrill, NY.  Arrangements are with the Malecki Funeral Home Inc for Sherrill.
