Agalice M. "Aggie" Mahoney Obituary

Agalice (Aggie) M. Mahoney went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 6, 2025 at the age of 88.

Aggie was born in Durhamville, New York on February 4, 1937. A daughter of the late Fredrick and Hilda Wood (Havener). Aggie graduated from VVS High School in 1956. During her school years, Aggie was involved in many activities, becoming a majorette in the marching band was her passion. She was united in marriage in 1957 to James Mahoney, and they were blessed with five children, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Throughout her lifetime, she enjoyed baking, sewing, concerts in the park, and being a blessing to others.

On many Friday nights, Aggie could be found at the Marble Hill Inn in Sherrill, New York enjoying a meal, music, and a cold beer on the back deck with her best friend Phyllis. Aggie formerly resided at Noyes Manor Senior Housing for 20 years. Aggie was referred to as the “Noyes Manor Angel,” sharing herself with anyone in need.

Aggie was an active member and sister in Christ at Plymouth Alliance Church in Sherrill, New York, where she enjoyed participating in Bible studies and monthly fellowships where she was known for her yummy cookies and delicious banana bread. In her younger years, she could be found volunteering her time in the church nursery rocking and loving on the little ones.

Aggie’s greatest joy in life was her family, being a mother and raising her children. She loved them all unconditionally, and was very proud of each one of them.

Aggie was preceded in death by her son, Dale (1993), her brothers Grove, Frederick, Richard, William, Charles and David, two sisters, infant Nancy, and Elsie Agan. Surviving siblings include her sister Elizabeth Cooper and brother George Havener. Also survived by her sons Daniel and Anita, Douglas and Holly Mahoney, daughters Kelly and Brian Gandy, and Kori and Chris Vance, and six beloved grandchildren.

Aggie had many, many friends, even a stranger could become her friend in a short amount of time. There were two very special people in her life, Warren Noble, Jr., who she loved like a son, and Phyllis Mazza, a lifelong friend of 78 years, whom she adored.

The family would like to thank all of the staff that cared for her throughout her time at Oneida Healthcare, for the love, compassion and skilled care she received prior to her passing. They would especially like to acknowledge the staff at the Oneida ECF to include the fourth-floor nursing staff, CNA’s, dining room help, and the activities staff, who were all exceptional in the care and love she received throughout her time there. Additionally, the family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Amy Stone for her many years of love and devotion to her Aunt Agalice.

A memorial celebration of life will be planned for April 4, 2026 at the Plymouth Alliance Church, 169 Kinsley Street, Sherrill, NY, 13461.

In memory of Aggie, please consider sharing an act of kindness, a warm smile, or reaching out to those in need.
