In Loving Memory of Betty Lou (Teale) Kardys

October 17, 1946 – January 12, 2026

Betty Lou (Teale) Kardys, 79, of Verona, NY, entered into eternal rest on January 12, 2026.

A woman of profound faith and gentle spirit, she lived her life as a testament to her Catholic faith, characterized by her constant prayer for others and her deep compassion for all of God’s creation.

Born on October 17, 1946, Betty Lou was the daughter of the late Stanley and Katherine (Kiser) Teale. On February 22, 1968, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, Theodore Joseph Kardys and together, they were blessed with nearly 58 years of a marriage rooted in love and devotion.

 Betty Lou was a woman of joy and love. She spent many years working at Oneida Limited, but her inherent passion for helping others eventually inspired her to pursue studies in Nursing. This desire to care for others extended to her advocacy for Pro Life and her deep-rooted concern for the welfare of animals.

As a devout Catholic, Betty’s life was guided by the teachings of the Church and the strength of the Gospel:

"I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith."

(2 Timothy 4:7)

“Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 'Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all'" (Proverbs 31:28-29)

She is survived by her beloved husband, Theodore; her daughters, Valerie (David) and Lori (Anthony); her cherished grandchildren, Ciera (Joey) and Nicholas (Danielle); and her precious great-grandson, Francis. She leaves was preceded by her siblings: Frances, Marie, Charlotte, Rose, Charles, Leonard and Doreen, along with many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.

Service Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on January 15, 2026 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Verona, NY (5652 East Main Street, Verona, NY 13478)

In accordance with family wishes, there will be no calling hours.
