Sherrill-Velma L. Allen, a longtime resident of the area passed away early Monday morning January 6, 2020 with her loving family at her side. She was born on March 28, 1924 in Rome, New York a daughter of the late Albert C. and Anna L. (Madore) Stone and was a graduate of McConnellsville and Camden Schools. Prior to her retirement Velma was employed with Oneida Molded Plastics. On June 30, 1962 Velma and Robert H. Allen were united in marriage at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome and shared that loving vow of forty-six years together until Robert's death on June 30, 2008. In her spare time Velma enjoyed the times spent at home with her family and friends. She enjoyed her garden and NASCAR. Surviving are her two daughters; Rita Sillman, Joyce (John) Perrigo, three sons and two daughters-in-laws; Brock Bickom, Danny (Margaret) Bickom, Robert (Carolyn) Allen, fourteen grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great- grand- children. One sister, Audrey Clemens, two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Albert (Ruby) Stone and Bill (Elsa) Stone. Velma was also predeceased by her first husband, Johnny Bickom, second husband Robert Allen, brothers Albert Stone, Harold A. Stone, Bill Stone, and sister Grace Reed. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday January 9, 2020 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 464 Sherrill Rd., Sherrill. Velma's funeral service will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home immediately following the calling hours with Rev. Robert Kolvik-Campbell officiating.
