Obituary of Gary R. Luft

Gary R. Luft Verona-Gary R. Luft, age 72, of Verona passed away unexpectedly Sunday February 5, 2017 in the Oneida Healthcare Center after being stricken ill at home. He was born on July 1, 1944 in Amsterdam, New York a son of the late Edward and Alberta (Sparks) Luft and was a graduate of the Fort Plain Schools. On July 2, 1960 Gary and Dianne E. Darrach were united in marriage in Fort Plains, New York and have shared this loving union of over fifty-six years together. Gary was an owner-trainer and driver at Vernon Downs and along with his wife Dianne cared for many good standard bred horses throughout the years in the Gary Luft Stable at Vernon Downs including a family favorite Hayden Collins. He enjoyed fishing and caring for his other animals. Surviving are his wife, Dianne Luft of Verona, daughter Susan Luft of Amsterdam and three grandsons, Robert, Dave and Timothy Green and one great grandson Trent Green. In keeping with family wishes there will be no public calling hours or funeral services. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
