Obituary of Timothy H. Wood

Vernon-Timothy H. Wood Sr., age 65 of Deans Highway succumbed to the virus that overtook his body and made him very uncomfortable on Sunday, September 26, 2021 in the Oneida Health Care Center. He was born on April 28, 1956 in Utica, New York a son of Harold E. and Gay M. (Houck) Wood and was a graduate of Westmoreland School's Class of 1974. Prior to his retirement at the end of July Tim was employed as a mechanic in the maintenance department of Vernon Downs. He was a former member of the Lairdsville Volunteer Fire Department where he served with his father the former chief. He also enjoyed vintage snowmobiles, hot rod drag cars and helping his son with his vintage car and recent dirt car racing at Utica Rome Speedway. Surviving are his mother Gay M. Wood of Lairdsville, two daughters Trisha Finen of Blossvale, Tracy Boothe of Perdido., AL, one son Timothy H. Wood Jr. of Blossvale, two sisters Amy Blakely of Brookfield, Laureen Wood of Taberg, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two special nephews, Mike Williamson of Vernon Center and Jim Semo of TN, as well as several more nieces and nephews. Tim was predeceased by his father Harold and daughter Heather. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, October 1, 20201 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon, New York.
