Evelyn M. Dixon
Verona-Evelyn M. Dixon, age 91, formerly of State Rt. 31 and more recently of the Oneida Healthcare Extended Care facility passed away Tuesday morning August 18, 2015 at the nursing facility.
Evelyn was born on February 18, 1924 in Verona, New York a daughter of the late Henry and Laura (Seifert) Klein. She was educated locally and received her diploma from Verona High School.
After Evelyn completed high school, she married Walter H. Dixon on November 27, 1942. Evelyn shared a loving union until Walter's death in 1997.
Evelyn was employed at Murphy's Canning Factory in Verona. She was also employed at the VVS High School cafeteria as a lunch aide. Evelyn also was a homemaker and took great joy in being able to care for her family.
In her spare time, Evelyn enjoyed things such as; playing bingo, gardening, growing and taking care of flowers, and taking care of her bird "Buddy".
She is survived by her children and their spouses, James and Regina Dixon of Solsville, Diane and Mike Horton of Sarasota, FL, "Gerry" and Al Rousseau of Verona, and Edward and Sharon Dixon of Verona. Evelyn is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren several and nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was predeceased by her parents Henry and Laura Klein, one granddaughter Tammy Sweatman, one brother, Clinton Klein, three sisters, Dorothy Abel, Marjorie Bartholomew, and Anna Mae Horodnick
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 4:00-7:00 p.m.at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., located on 23 Front St. Vernon, NY. A funeral service will take place at the conclusion on calling hour's at 7 p.m., at the funeral home with Rev. Susan Walters celebrating.
