Norman Eugene Laube
Vernon-Norman Eugene Laube, age 83, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, August 29, 2015, in the comfort of his home with his daughter by his side.
He was born April 2, 1932, on the family farm in Vernon, son of the late Frederick and Nellie (Edwards) Laube. Norman was a 1950 graduate of Vernon High School and Morrisville College.
He married Diana Pohl on October 3, 1952. Diana passed away July 27, 2003.
Norman enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and the innumerous summer reunions and Thanksgiving festivities where many tales were told.
Norman retired as vice-president from Vernon Telephone Company, Inc. in 1993. His careers included Chief of Police for Vernon, Manager of Harden Farms in Camden and Chairman of both the Town of Vernon Republican Committee and the ZBA.
Norman was also on the board of directors for the Oneida Castle Fire Department. Norman and his family were honored on June 21, 2014, the 100th Anniversary of the fire department, with the dedication of the newly built fire station.
Norman's true passion was farming, which he enjoyed throughout his entire life.
He is survived by three children, daughter Susan and Jim Stratton, daughter, Norma and Don Christian and son Norman Jr. and Denise Laube. Grandchildren; Jamie and Becca Tiffin, Jason and Jodie Tiffin, Shannon and Chad Leonardo, Jenn and Dave Meeker, Jill and Tim Resig, Jeremy Christian , Jesse Christian and fiancé Shannon Harrington, Drew Laube and fiancé Katie Mutz and Alexandra Grace Laube. Great-grandchildren; Skylar, Trey, Sydney, Siena, Christian, Camryn, Connor, Adriana, Trent, Ty, Kasadee, Garrett and Isaiah. He is also survived by three sister-in-laws, Marion Laube, Betty Laube, and Marge Laube and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters, Blodwyn Bent, Willard Laube, Ralph Laube, Richard Laube, Vivian Jackson and Wilbur Laube. He was also predeceased by his two beloved pugs, Shadow and Tink-Tink.
"Poppy" is now at peace with "Nina".
