Dorothea D. Story

Vernon-Dorothea D. Story, age 90, of Vernon passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning September 9, 2015 in the Abraham Hospice House.

She was born on December 3, 1924 in Oneida, New York a daughter of the late Harold Jacob and Gladys (Parmalee) DeFrees .She was educated locally and was a graduate of Oneida High School.

Dorothea was united in marriage to George R. Story Jr. in Houston, Texas during WWII. Dorothea was a homemaker, a role that she held very dear to her heart.

In Dorothea's spare time she enjoyed tending her garden and growing vegetables and flowers. Dorothea was a great cook, and a fantastic baker. In the past, she was also very active in the Saddle Slappers 4-H club, and the Circle H Riding club. She enjoyed caring for her horses and dogs.

Dorothea is survived by her husband George of Vernon, a son George and Sally Story of Oneida, a granddaughter Jennifer Story also of Oneida, 2 great grandchildren Darian Eaton, and Nevaeh Randel, brother David and Mary DeFrees, many nieces and nephews, and a special niece Eileen Sinclair.
