Zoey S. Brown

Vernon-Zoey S. Brown, age 8, of W. Seneca Street, passed away Sunday afternoon April 3, 2016 from injuries sustained in a house fire at her home in the village of Vernon.

She was born on February 24, 2008 in New Hartford, New York a daughter of David A. and Andrea D. (Batson) Brown and attended V.V.S. Central Schools and the Trade Winds Education Center in Utica.

Zoey was a happy smiling child that enjoyed playing on her tablet, doing cart wheels and wrestling with her brothers. She enjoyed giving and getting hugs and kisses.

Surviving are her parents, David A. and Andrea D. Brown, her siblings, Austin Batson, Meagen Halladay, Allyson Halladay, Ricky Halladay, Michael Parry, Olivia Parry and Nicholas Brown, her maternal grandmother Joan Batson, paternal grandparents William and Cynthia Brown, aunts Judy Schrader and Fern Batson-Cronin and uncle Jose Batson, many aunts, uncles and cousins. Also surviving are her many friends, classmates, teachers and staff at the Trade Winds Educational Center.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Vernon Methodist Church 5230 W. Seneca Street, Vernon, NY. Zoey funeral service will be held Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at the church immediately following calling hours with Rev. Frank Loan officiating. Private burial will be in Maple Grover Cemetery, Vernon, New York.

The family would like to thank everyone for their kind and heartfelt gifts and prayers. They would like to especially thank the Vernon Fire Dept. and the surrounding fire departments, firemen and firewomen and Vineall Ambulance Services for all they did that day. They would also like to thank the Vernon Library, Rev. Frank Loan, Abe Acee and his staff at the Nothin' Fancy Café for their kind gestures at such a difficult time in the family's lives and to all the donors for going above and beyond anything that could be imagined, Thank You All.
