James W. Furney

Clinton-James W. Furney, age 85, of Franklin Ave. and formerly of Noyes Manor, Sherrill, passed away Monday August 18, 2014 in the Martin Luther Home of Clinton.

James was a husband and a father, that's how he was known to us. He was a marine from 1945 to 1947. To some in the Watertown area he was known as Sparky which was the name of his chimney business. In his later years he was an author he wrote Uncertain Roads the story of his early life.

He had a special way about him that drew people to him. Some people just knew him by pops. Well I guess that's all I can say about my father.

He is survived by his wife Virginia and his son Frank. He is preceded by his first son

Sidney and his three brothers, Sidney, Frank and Arnold. Your road is certain now. Semper Fi Pops.

Visitation and a memorial service will be held at a later date at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., Vernon, at a date to be announced.
