I served as an Air Force Flight Surgeon in Schiele Brewer's unit on Rome Air Force Base roughly from 1983 - 1986. Colonel Brewer was one of the finest officers I ever worked for. I'm hurt, but not surprised he lost his life in an aircraft accident. I'm not surprised he was still practicing medicine well into his seventies.

Paul and Brewer Family,
On behalf of the Gannon family, our deepest condolences on your loss. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Brewer on a few occassions as a friend of Paul's and I was honored to do so. His legacy lives on in his family. The next time I visit Notre Dame, I will light a candle at the Grotto is his memory.

I'm shocked by the news. I can't tell you how much I owe Dr. Brewer. He provided invaluable assistance getting me back on flying status in 1994, never to be grounded again as he knew how much that meant to me. Could not have done it without him. Colonel Brewer was an avid pilot and always talked to me about his seaplane adventures in upstate New York and elsewhere.
And I'll long remember a great week in Germany after the Gulf War when he and I and the rest of the crew flew a C-5 all over parts of west central Germany on one of those missions where the itinerary was up to the crew.
He and the family will be in my prayers-I made sure Dr. Brewer and his family were remembered in yesterday's Sunday service.

Dear Mrs. Brewer and Family,
Please accept my most heartfelt condolences on Dr. Brewer's passing. I was twelve years old in 1968 and was being treated for what was thought to be conjunctivitis. In actuality, I had a severe corneal ulcer. The impact of this was lost on me, but certainly not on my parents - I was very close to losing the sight in my right eye. Through daily visits with Dr. Brewer (whos office was not officially open in Oneida at the time) and his merry band of residents at Upstate and months of therapy, my sight is perfect more than forty years later.
Dr. Brewer was nothing short of a miracle worker to my parents, who never forgot him and credited him with saving my eyesight. I will never forget his kindness to a child who had no idea what was happening.
Truly, he was one of a kind. He left his handprint on my life.
I am so very sorry for your loss. May God bless you all.

Paul and I were shocked to read about Bill. But I have to tell you when I heard there was a plane crash at Stillwater I got a very bad feeling. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
