Russell F. Urtz Sr.
Verona – Russell F. Urtz Sr., 77 passed away on July 16, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer in the Oneida Healthcare ECF.
He was born on October 27, 1938 to Gerald and Gladys Urtz. He married Marilyn (Sally) Brooks on December 22, 1958 and the couple spent forty-nine wonderful years before her passing on January 20, 2008.
Russell was a self employed truck driver for several years before going to work as a truck driver for Harden Furniture for twenty-three years and then he worked for Black Horse Carriers until retiring in 2009. He worked part time for Nye Auto in Oneida, for the last few years.
He enjoyed traveling, camping, and the casino and was always up for a good time with his family and friends.
He was a member of the Son's of the American Legion in Vernon and also the Stanwix Men's Club.
Loved ones left behind are: his sister, Larene Lallier, his children: Michael and Holly of Verona, Russell Jr. and Kimberly of Altmar, Sheri and Brett Field of Durhamville, Mark of Cincinnatus, Rhonda of Verona, and Eric and Randy of Rome. Also surviving are several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Sally, and two daughters, Lori and Renee.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the Malecki Funeral Home 23 Front Street Vernon, NY. Private burial will be in West Leyden Cemetery, West Leyden, New York at the family's convenience. On line condolences may be sent to maleckifuneralhome.com.
