Obituary of Janet E. Blunt

Janet E. Blunt Westmoreland-Janet E. Blunt, age 74, passed away early Sunday evening July 24, 2016 at her home on Eureka Road surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 1, 1942 in Ashland, Ohio a daughter of the late Stanley and Ruth (Nalley) Bartley and was a graduate of the Hayesville Schools. On April 14, 1973 Janet and James Blunt were united in marriage in Mount Gilead, Ohio and have shared this loving union of forty-three years together. Prior to her retirement Janet was employed with Utica First Insurance Company as a commercial underwriter. Janet was a co-leader of the 4-H Exchange Group of Oneida County for many years and volunteered at many of the 4-H events. She was also a volunteer at Hope House. While in Ohio she was a member of the Sweet Adelines singing group. Surviving is her husband James L. Blunt, her children and their spouses, Mark (Margie) Zediker, Jackie (Donald) Abrams, Cheri Ely and fiancée Don Goodman, Rebecca (David) O'Hearn, James (Jill) Blunt, Jeffrey (Sandi) Blunt, Carl (Nicki) Blunt, Chad (Gabrielle) Blunt, twenty-six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, six siblings; James Bartley, Sue Metz, Paula Clevidence, Jennifer Hicks, Dan Bartley and Barbara Conrad. Also many nieces and nephews, many close friends and very special friends Mary Jo Jennings and Rose LaGoy. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front St., Vernon, NY. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., Vernon, with Pastors Ricky Fuller and Rev. Katie Yahns officiating. Burial will follow in Westmoreland Cemetery, Westmoreland, NY.
