Obituary of Richard P. Durant

Richard P. Durant Sr. Jourdanton-TX-Richard P. Durant Sr. of Jourdanton, Texas sadly passed away on Monday, October 31, 2016 at the age of 75 due to a short illness. He was born in Ballston Spa, New York on December 9, 1940 to Leslie and Mabel (Ham) Durant. He was a graduate of Vernon Verona Sherrill High School in Verona, New York. Richard was an avid NASCAR fan, football and hockey fan and had a passion for hunting. Richard enjoyed all of his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Richard is survived by his children Sandra and (Andrew) Weir of Universal City, TX, Denise and (Daniel) Egelston of Jourdanton, TX, Gail and (Gregory) Parsons of Verona, NY, Darlene House of Oneida, NY, Richard F. and (Laurie) Durant of Falls City, TX, Terri Brundage of Hudson, NY, Richard P. and (Angela) Durant Jr. of Keene, NY, William and (Stacey) Durant of Canastota, NY. Richard is the grandfather of 21 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild expected in 2017 and many nieces and nephews. Richard is also survived by seven brothers, Gale Durant of Munnsville, NY, Gary Durant of Ocala, FL, Robert Durant of Philadelphia, PA, Brian Durant of Dickson, TN, Lynn Durant of Millerton, NY, Daryl Durant of Murfreesboro, TN and Roger Durant of Kempner, TX. His four sisters, Marlene Sigler of Saugerties, NY, Patricia Purdy of Cairo, NY, Deborah Gallo of Quakerstown, PA. and Karen Durant of Kingston, NY. Richard was predeceased by his parents Leslie and Mabel Durant, three brothers, Frederick Durant, William Thomas and Wayne Durant. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, November 6, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon, NY.
