Obituary of Arlene G. Blakeman

Arlene G. Blakeman Vernon-Arlene G. Blakeman, age 89, of Van Epps Street and a longtime resident of Fulton passed away early Thursday morning January 5, 2017 at her home in Vernon surrounded by her loving children. She was born on January 30, 1927 in Syracuse, New York a daughter of the late Roy E. and Ethel (Lane) Cole and attended Syracuse Schools. On April 7, 1946 Arlene and Kenneth V. Blakeman were united in marriage at Brown Memorial Church of Syracuse and shared a loving union of fifty-seven years together until Mr. Blakeman's death on August 30, 2003. Arlene was a homemaker and fantastic baker. Before moving to Vernon in 2005 she was a very active member of the Little Utica United Methodist Church and the church choir for many years. She was also active with the Lamson Grange, Christian Women United, United Methodist Women, DAR (The Daughters of the American Revolution) and a member of Christ Church United Methodist of Sherrill. Surviving are two sons Lynn (Patricia) Blakeman of Olean, Dean Blakeman of Oswego, two daughters and two sons-in-law, Jan (Timothy) Snow of Landenberg, PA and Sharon (John) Barattini of Sherrill, a daughter-in-law Theresa Blakeman of Phoenix, fourteen grandchildren, several great- and great-great-grandchildren, and a special friend Frances Donhauser Fairbrother. Arlene was predeceased by her husband Kenneth in 2003, son Bradley in 2016 and brother Roy F. Cole in 1988. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday January 9, 2017 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 464 Sherrill Rd., Sherrill. Arlene's funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Church United Methodist, 417 Park Street, Sherrill, with Rev. Robert Kolvic-Campbell officiating.
