Obituary of Ernest B. Eaton

Ernest B. Eaton Knoxboro- Ernest B. Eaton, age 89, formerly of Knoxboro Road and more recently of the Harding Nursing Home of Waterville passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon September 23, 2014 at the nursing facility. He was born on February 19, 1925 in Oneida, New York a son of the late Lewis and Harriet (Hattie Towsley) Eaton. Ernie married Beatrice Elizabeth Tanner on June 15, 1946 in Augusta, New York and has been a lifetime resident of Knoxboro. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II on the U.S. Caperton. Ernie was employed by Oneida Limited Silversmiths, Eastern Rock Products, retiring on February 28, 1990 as assistant locksmith at SUNY Morrisville College. He was a member of the Knoxboro United Methodist Church and Kelly Phillips Legion Post and served on the Knoxboro Cemetery board. He enjoyed taking trips with his wife, fishing, playing cards and reading. He is survived by his loving wife, Beatrice, son Richard (Martha) of Englewood. Fl., daughter Dawn Strong of Knoxboro, sisters Bertha (Dick) Dillman of Munnsville, Beverly of PA, one brothers Robert of Oneida. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Erwin, Lewis, Leroy, George, Lester and Jess; sisters, Martha, Elsie, Joyce and Dorothy and one son-in-law, Sheldon Strong. He leaves behind grandchildren, Lisa (Tom) Burton of Oakland, ME, Lori Eaton of Wrightsville Beach, NC, grandsons, Mark Strong of Oneida and Michael (Kati) Strong of Knoxboro, great-grandchildren, Tanner and Mackenzie Burton, Peyton Strong, Taylor, Baileigh, Brady and Rylee Strong Family and friends are invited to call on Friday for 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon. Mr. Eaton's funeral service will be held at 2: 00 p.m. at the funeral home immediately following calling hours.
