Obituary of Norene B. Mitchell

Norene B. Mitchell Oneida-Norene B. Mitchell, age 96, a former Oneida resident and more recently of the Betsy Ross Nursing Facility passed away peacefully Monday morning July 3, 2017 at the nursing facility. She was born on July 3, 1921 in Sherrill, New York, the daughter of Howard and Lillian Cramer Bettinger. Mrs. Mitchell was a resident of the Oneida area most of her life. She was a graduate of the Stockbridge Valley Central School Class of 1939. Prior to her retirement, in 1994, she was a twenty-five year employee of the Oneida Daily Dispatch. Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the Stockbridge United Methodist Church and at one time was superintendent of its Sunday school. She also served as organist for the Siloam Methodist Church. Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the Silver Star Chapter No. 21, Order of the Eastern Star of Oneida and a member of the "Busy Bees, and the Senior Friends and Resource Center on Aging of Augusta, GA. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Ronald Higginbotham of The Villages, Fl, and Maxine and Edwin Howe of Yulee, Fl., two sons and daughter-in-law, Robert Bishopp and companion Wanda Kell of Ormond Beach, Fl, Otto and Diane Mitchell of Munnsville, one sister Mrs. Ronald (Barbara) Scrivner of Fruitland Park, Fl, many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service Saturday July 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stockbridge United Methodist Church Rt. 46, Munnsville, NY.
