Obituary of June W. Wilgus

Vernon – June W. Wilgus, age 92, formerly of Curtis Road, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018, at the Presbyterian Home of Central New York in New Hartford. Born on June 1, 1925, in Utica, she was the daughter of the late Frederick J. and Margaret (Jones) Wendt. After graduating from Utica Free Academy, June went on to earn a degree from Syracuse University School of Nursing in 1948. She was a nurse for many years at the Oneida City Hospital and Oneida Healthcare Center retiring in 1980. On April 23, 1948, in Utica, she was united in marriage to Seymour L. Wilgus. June and Seymour shared that union for 53 loving years until his passing on January 2, 2002. Survivors include, her daughters, Jill Moore of Sherrill, Holly (Steve) Martin of San Diego, CA; her son, Arthur (Michelle) Wilgus of Port Charlotte, FL; and her four grandchildren; Jay (Cheryl) Moore, Jessica Martin, Steve Martin, Brishanna Wilgus and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, June was predeceased by her brother H. Frederick Wendt in 2000 and her grandson Matthew L. Moore in 2016. In keeping with June's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private graveside service at Maple Grove Cemetery in Vernon will take place at a later date at the family's convenience.
