Vernon-Kenneth Roy Wescott, age 83, of Vernon passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born on April 18, 1935 to Roy Lee and Gladys (Foote) Wescott in Vernon Center, New York. Kenny is survived by his companion of 38 years, Barbara Scheible, his special family: Joanne (Scheible) and Darryl Hurst, Sandy (Scheible), David and Gabrielle Clark, Andy and Gretchen Scheible, a cousin Warren Brown and a special caregiver, Ruby Ebersold. He is predeceased by his sister, Bertha Summers, a "special daughter" Cathy (Scheible) Fleming. Kenny was educated at Vernon High School. He worked as a heavy equipment operator with Durant Construction and retired in 1991. Kenny was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved beagles, especially George. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, July19, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home immediately following calling hours. At the request of the family burial will be private in St. Helena's Cemetery, Oneida, New York.
