Obituary of Robert J. Stonger

Sherrill-Robert J. Stonger, age 85, went to be with our Lord on May 14, 2020 peacefully at his home, with his loving wife and daughter at his side. He was born on July 21, 1934 in Syracuse, New York a son of the late John A. and Anna Belle (Lundy) Stonger. Graduated from the Syracuse Schools. Bob was married to Catherine Lobdell on August 4, 1956. She died in 1995. Bob was employed and retired in 1998 from the East Syracuse Minoa School District. On October 2, 1999 Bob and Audrey (Lynch) McCorduck were united in marriage in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Verona by their Pastor Bradley Hales. Bob had many hobbies he loved, studying the bible, master woodcrafter, NASCAR fan, camping and hiking at Lake Moraine with his wife. He was predeceased by his son Paul Stonger and step son Richard McCorduck, a brother John Stonger Surviving are his wife Audrey Stonger of Sherrill, three children, Robert J. Stonger Jr. of Oregon, Lisa M. Grenier of Sherrill, Peggy Blume of Virginia, two step daughters’ Debbie Pawlikowski of Oneida, and Bonnie Wallace (deceased husband Lee Wallace) of Philadelphia, PA a niece Judy Stonger of Connecticut; nephews Tom Zinsmeyer (Joanne) of Penneville, NY and John Stonger Jr. of Syracuse. A memorial celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Friday July 23, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 4897 Old Oneida Road, Verona, NY with Rev. Katie Yahns presiding. The family will greet friends at the Church from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the celebration. In lieu of flowers please send donations to In Touch Ministries or a charity of your choice.
