Obituary of Michael G. Urtz

Verona-Michael G. Urtz, age 61, of Verona passed away unexpectedly early Saturday morning June 6, 2020 in the Oneida Healthcare Center emergency room. He was born on January 4, 1959 in Constableville, New York a son of the late Russell F. and Marilyn "Sally" (Brooks) Urtz Sr. and was a graduate of Vernon Verona Sherrill School. Michael was a truck driver for over twenty-three years and most recently retired from Black Horse Carriers of Tully. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved his wife dearly and has been looking forward to the time when they both could retire together. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and having cookouts, camp fires, and playing fetch with his dog "Daphne". He enjoyed camping, riding his motorcycle, boating and wood working. He was an avid horseshoe player as well as playing pool with his family and friends. Surviving is his wife of twenty years, Holly Urtz, his three daughters and their spouses, Courtney (Gary) Newton of New Hartford, Laurena (Corey) Farrant of Oriskany Falls and Crystal Baker of Rome, one son James Baker and companion Amber Farwell of Canastota, eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, his siblings and their spouses, Mark Urtz of Cincinnatus, Russell (Kim) Urtz of Verona, sister Sheri (Brett) Field of Durhamville and special brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Tim and Jeannine DeWolfe. Michael was predeceased by his parents Russell Sr. and Marilyn "Sally" Urtz and sister Lori Urtz. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made in the name of Michael Urtz to Paws for the Cause Rescue Inc., 7846 Lewis Road, Blossvale, NY, 13308.
