Obituary of Gerald L. Balcom

Gerald L. Balcom Clay-Gerald L. Balcom, age 53, of Marlin Drive passed away unexpectedly early Thursday morning February 12, 2015t at his home. He was born on November 2, 1961 in Utica, New York a son of Earl and Rose (Widrig) Balcom and was a graduate of V.V.S. Central School. After graduation Gerald enlisted with the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1983. Gerald was an outdoors man who enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was a self employed finish carpenter. Surviving are his mother Rose and step father Richard LaGoy of Vernon, two brothers, Michael Balcom of Vernon Center and Richard (Tracy) LaGoy of Vernon Center, step brothers, Richard (Terry) LaGoy of Munnsville, two step sisters, Christa Jean (Lynn) Curtiss of Fl. and Renee (Dave) Royce of Sherrill, nephews, Dalton and Phillip LaGoy, Larry Balcom and niece Amber Jean, as well as many cousins and other relatives. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home immediately following calling hours with Pastor Ricky Fuller officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
