Obituary of Georgina J. Johnson

Vernon-Georgina J. Johnson, age 89, of State Rt. 26, Vernon passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon December 19, 2020 in the comfort of her home. She was born on January 16, 1931 in Hagersville, Ontario, Canada a daughter of the late Huron N. and Eleanor B. (Van Every) Hill. Georgina and Scottie Johnson were married in Hagerville, Ontario and shared that union until Scottie's death in 1984. The couple came to the US following the dreams of harness racing where Georgina helped Scottie with the stable work and was an accomplished seamstress and fitted many trainers and drivers with their racing colors. She was a member of the Standardbred Canada Horseman's Association and the United States Trotting Association for many years. Georgina was a loyal New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills fan. Surviving are her three children, Jeff (Dee) Johnson, Terry Johnson and George Johnson all of Vernon, her grandchildren, Scott, A.J., Jeffrey, Peggy and Alina, her great-grandchildren, Callie, Zach, Noah, Bailey and Riley. In memory of Georgina please send your donations to St. Jude's Hospital. In dealing with COVID 19 there will be no calling hours and burial will be private at the family's convenience in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vernon, NY.
