Obituary of Carol L. Simchik

Durhamville: Carol S. Simchik, age 69, passed away on December 20, 2020 after a two-year residence at Oneida Extended Care. She was born on July 31, 1951 in Utica, to Charles and Betty Button-Stewart. She graduated from Sauquoit Valley Central High School on June 21, 1970. Carol worked as a CNA at Sunset Nursing home and held a variety of other home health care positions. After a ten-year employment with Oneida Limited, Carol enjoyed her position at Oneida Healthcare as a TV hostess for a number of years. Carol married Daniel J. Simchik on 08/25/1979 at St Mary’s of Irish Ridge. Carol enjoyed the simple pleasures in life; chatting with friends and family, sending written letters through the post, and spending time with her animals and gardens. She was a dedicated wife, mother and friend. She was proud of her children. Carol was a devout woman of the rosary and prayer. Carol, a survivor of Lung Cancer through treatment and faith, was able to treasure every moment with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 41 years Dan; daughters, Allison Barletta and spouse Phil Warren. Elizabeth Simchik and partner Christian Nelson. Sons: David Simchik and spouse Antoine Spiteri. John and spouse Sarah Simchik. Sisters: Kathy Stewart of Rome, Barbara and Joseph Inserra of Poland, Ruth and Frank Kelly of Lyons and sister-in-law, MaryAnn Simchik of Canastota. Brother, Charles (Buddy) and Marivic Stewart of Springfield, IL. Granddaughters: Alissa Rose and Evelyn Rose. Grandsons, John Jr. and Alexander. Carol will be missed by all who loved her, including family reunions with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 30th from 5pm to 7pm at Malecki Funeral Home; 23 Front St, Vernon, NY 13476 where face coverings and social distancing will be practiced. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 1st at 10am at St. Mary’s Church; 6148 Irish Ridge Rd., Irish Ridge, NY 13054-0189. Following Mass, a Celebration of life will be held at 5927 State Route 46, Durhamville, NY 13054.
