Jean was such an inspiration to all of us at Arden Courts Palm Harbor! She maintained her beautiful, welcoming smile and soft, sparkly eyes throughout her time with us. Jeannie was so gracious and appreciative! When you walked into her room to visit, you were always surrounded by a cozy warmth of comfort and peace. From her china teacups, oriental rug, pictures of family and friends and numerous Hallmark greeting cards, she always welcomed one with love and warmth! She shared with us in all sorts of special occasions, loved her music and entertainment, appreciated a good laugh, and was always there to offer wonderful words of wisdom! The bond of family was beyond great for Jean, as her family never allowed one day to go by during her stay with us without a beloved family member by her side! They came from all over, including Alaska, to ensure their beloved mother knew their abundant love of and for her at her side! We all loved Jeannie, and she shall remain a most special lady within our hearts always. Continued comfort, strength and special memories to each of you! Thank you for entrusting Jean to our care! With Love and Hugs!! Ruth J. Gruhn, Program Service Coordinator, Arden Courts Palm Harbor, FL

I am so sorry to hear of Jean's passing. A truly wonderful woman who I couldn't help but like from the moment I met her in 1990 when she recruited me for BOCES to teach the Child Abuse Identification Course which the state had mandated at the time. Thirty years later I am still teaching this course. I have warmly thought about her over these years since her retirement. Her soft spoken voice, radiant smile, and always a positive outlook on life is what I will always remember. My heartfelt condolences to her family. May the love and support of family, friends and community be a source of comfort for you.

I'm sorry to hear of Jean's passing. My condolences to the family that Jean valued and loved so much. Jean provided me with guidance, laughter and tremendous support at BOCES. She insisted I had a small recorder to dictate any and all ideas. I was the recipient of dozens of her transcribed ideas and memos...none of which was less than 3 pages/single spaced/10 pt. font or smaller! Her brain never stopped and we all benefitted from her innovation. Her mantra was "Make it happen." Her bar was always raised higher. Jean's passion for nursing showed through in every way. I treasure many memories of the years I was fortunate to know her. She will be missed.

I am deeply saddened by Jean's passing. During our time together at BOCES Jean was a mentor and a friend. Her dedication to the students under her charge was unwavering. She was loyal to a fault both to BOCES but more importantly to her convictions. She taught this young upstart many lessons, not the least of which was not to let my ego influence my judgement. I remember the time that Jean was dictating a memo while driving. The car went off of the road. There was an "oh s..t" on the tape followed by the completion of the memo. To me this is the real life metaphor of Jean. I know the tragedies that Jean experienced. Life may have thrown her of of the road at times but she always completed what she needed to and found her way back on. It was my privilege to work with her. My deepest condolences. Carmen Pecheone

I was so sorry to hear this news. I have so many memories of Country Drive families that included us, the Renaldo family. It was such a special thing to have your family as our extended family and the many times we spent together. I always was amazed how calm your mom was despite having many children and their friends at their house almost all the time...haha....but how special I always felt to be welcomed anytime. I loved to sit and chat with her, especially as I became more of an “adult”....she would delve into a topic and it was always thoughtful and open-minded. I always enjoyed being welcomed to White Lake, as well, and it was a beautiful spot. The relationship your parents and my parents had is something I have hoped to have in my life, as well...it enriched their lives. I was just telling my kids about our Saturday morning ski lessons/trips to Colgate or to McCauley or anywhere we could ski together....so much fun...and brave of our moms to bring us on their own! Please know that I am thinking of your family and praying for comfort in the days ahead. May you keep your happy memories in the forefront and know that she made a difference in the lives of many people (through nursing, through BOCES, through church, by just being Jean). I am sure your parents and my Dad are saving a spot for my Mom with the cards ready for a good game of bridge. Sending hugs and love to you all!!
