Verona-Gerald L. "Jerry" Griffith, age 95, a long time area resident passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 31, 2021 in the Oneida Healthcare Center Extended Care Facility. He was born on November 29, 1925 in the Village of Vernon, a son of the late Hugh and Ruth (Pierce) Griffith and received his Bachelor's engineering degree from Syracuse University. From 1944-1946 Jerry served with the U.S. Army Calvary during WW II in the CBI Theatre. On December 10, 1960 Jerry and Louise Carmon were united in marriage in St. Paul's EUB Church of Oneida and shared that vow of over fifty-eight years together until Louise's death on September 23, 2019. Prior to his retirement Jerry was employed as an industrial engineer with Oneida Limited Silversmiths for over forty years. He was a brother of the Masonic Lodge over seventy-three years and served as a past Grand Master. Jerry gave freely of his time as a past president of the Sherrill-Kenwood Cemetery Association. One of his greatest joys in Jerry's life was spending summers with his wife Louise at their camp "Birchmere" in Old Forge. Surviving is one nephew, Carl (Frieda) Griffith of Munnsville, special friends and caretakers, Debbie Bryerton of Verona, Tom & Kathy Eisenhut of Deansboro as well as numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his four siblings and their spouses, Hugh (Margaret) Griffith, Erwin (Ruth) Griffith, Bernice (Stan) Soule and Adeline (Donald) Patrick. In keeping with Gerry's wishes there will be no services. Private burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Oneida, NY. Arrangements are with the Malecki Funeral Home of Vernon.
