Pauline J. Forsythe
Vernon Center-Pauline J. Forsythe, 92, passed away Thursday July 3, 2014 at the Masonic Care Community of New York after a brief illness. Pauline was born on March 27, 1922 in Afton, New York, the daughter of the late Raymond and Marjorie Dimorier. She was predeceased on July 27, 2007 by her husband of 65 years, Robert C. Forsythe. She is survived by three sons, Daryl and wife Phyllis of Norwich, NY, James and his companion Carol of Vernon, NY and Brian and his companion Polly of Hamilton, NY; four daughters, Diane Good and her husband Joe of Staunton, VA, Nancy Callahan of Gilbertsville, NY, Brenda White and her husband Tom of Oneida, NY and Mary Taber and her husband Ron of Raymond, NH; eleven grandchildren, Jackie, Danny, James, Tacoma, Jess, Cody, Casey, Jennifer, Cameron, Melissa and Corey and 12 great grandchildren, Madison, Jordan, Mia, Brandon, Kelsey, Jude, Jacques, Jon, Ashley, Mandi, Jonny and Evan.
After graduating from Harpursville, NY HS Pauline worked as an administrative secretary to the school principle until starting her family. She was active in the Methodist Church in every community in which she lived, often teaching Sunday school and participating in many church activities. Pauline became an accomplished quilter and had many of her quilts displayed in various quilting shows in the area. She also was a proficient seamstress and made many items of clothing for the family. While the children were growing up, Pauline was active in the 4H and held several leadership positions. In her later years, she was active, along with her husband Robert, in the Gideons and attended many rallies with him.
She especially adored each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and looked forward to their visits to the farm in Vernon Center, NY. She had a green thumb as evidenced by the vast array of flowers that always graced the front porch of the Vernon Center home and by the copious amounts of fresh produce from the family garden, a staple for many years that help feed the gang during the winter months, thanks to her canning and freezing abilities.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon, NY.
