Rome-James P. Morgan, age 69, of Rome and previously the owner and operator of the Town and Country Restaurant in Vernon passed away peacefully late Monday afternoon surrounded by love in his daughter's home.
He was born on May 7, 1952 in Oneida, New York a son of the late Arthur and Ernestine (Smith) Morgan was a graduate of VVS High School.
In his early career Jim worked over nine years as a machine operator with the Oneida Limited Silversmiths. From there he entered the restaurant business and purchased the Town and Country Restaurant in January 1990 and ran the restaurant for a 17 years before selling the business in 2007. After selling the business Jim went to work at Vernon Downs for 7 years until he retired in 2014.
In his spare time Jim enjoyed boating and fishing on Oneida Lake with his family and friends. All his life Jim had a passion for owning many different vehicles including his two favorites; a yellow jet boat and a white VW Gazelle.
Surviving are his significant other; Cindy Lucas of Rome and his loyal loving canine companion Libby; his beloved children and their spouses: James and Rebecca Morgan of Gig Harbor Washington, Jessica and Andrew Naegele of Sherrill, and Melissa and Devyn Morgan of Clinton, and Felix and Michelle Colosimo of Rome; as well as seven grandchildren, Lana, Cassidy, Arianna, Faith, Madelyn, Cooper, and Millie. Also surviving are his brother Jack Morgan and his wife Nancy of Verona, and one sister Sue Croy and her husband Bob of Boston, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In keeping with Jim's wishes and in lieu of flowers or a formal service the family will greet friends at a Celebration of His Life on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Apple Betty's Restaurant 5350 Seneca Street, Vernon, NY.
