Nettie B. Grabow

Sherrill-Nettie B. Grabow, age 98, formerly of Noyes Manor and more recently of the Oneida Healthcare Extended Care facility passed away peacefully late Saturday evening May 23, 2015 at the facility.

She was born on September 20, 1916 in Pratts Hollow, New York a daughter of the late Guy E. and Eveline C. (Morrow) Bartlett. She attended Pratts Hollow and Munnsville Schools and went on to graduate from Stockbridge Valley Central School Class of 1934 and attended Cortland College.

On September 11, 1937 Nettie and Chris H. Grabow were united in marriage in Stockbridge, New York and shared that loving union until Mr. Grabow's death on October 22, 1968.

She was a talented seamstress and 4H leader teaching sewing in Siloam. She also did alterations well into her 90s . She enjoyed her career at the Oneida Hotel where she was a waitress for over twenty years retiring in 1978. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting, playing cards and gardening. She volunteered for 30 years as a food server for the Oneida SNACK program retiring on her 92nd birthday. She was a 50 year member of the First United Methodist Church of Oneida.

Surviving are two sons and their spouses, Christian and Patricia Grabow of Oneida, Barry and Susan Grabow of Verona Beach, two daughters, Christine Durant of Oneida and Patricia Grabow of Fremont , Cal., one daughter-in-law, Sandra Grabow of Verona, 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Norene (Gerry) McIntosh of LaFargeville and Fern (Harry) Major of Wampsville, three sisters-in-law, Marion, Beverly and Betty Bartlett, as well as many nieces and nephews. Nettie was predeceased by her husband, one son Bradley Grabow, June 2, 2014; one great grandson, Adam; seven brothers, Robert, Archie, Perry, Donald, Richard, Sheldon and Ralph: and three sisters, Hazel Murrell, Violet Bartlett and Gladys Kratzer.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Malecki funeral Home Inc., 464 Sherrill Rd., Sherrill. Mrs. Grabow's funeral service will be held on Saturday May 30, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Oneida at the corner of W. Grove and Main Street, Oneida, New York with Pastor Abigail Browka officiating. Private burial will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Clinton. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to The First United Methodist Church of Oneida or the Oneida Healthcare ECF.
