Regina D. McLaughlin Sherrill - Regina D. McLaughlin, age 77, of Noto Drive passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon May 28, 105 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 6, 1938 in Utica, New York a daughter of the late Walter and Anna (Szlosek) Dalkiewicz. Regina was a graduate of Vernon Verona Sherrill Central School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, Sportsmanship Brotherhood, and graduated in the Top 5 of her class. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from Our Lady of the Lake College, San Antonio, TX. On October 18, 1975 Regina and Walter F. McLaughlin were united in marriage at the Church of Saint Patrick in Natick, MA and shared that loving marriage until Walter's death on November 1, 2002. Her "kids" included many pets, including her German Shepard, Sophie, and her beloved cat, Sherlock. Prior to her retirement Regina was employed as a Medical Technologist with the Slocum-Dickson Medical Group in Utica, NY and a Laboratory Supervisor at General Medical Associates and General Medical Laboratories in Boston, MA. She also worked in the Chemistry Department at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital and Boston Medical Laboratories, and at the Veteran's Administration Hospitals in Boston, MA and Syracuse, NY. Regina was a very active member for many years at St. Joseph's Church in Oneida where she taught religious education, sang in the choir, and was active in the food pantry and praying at Perpetual Adoration. She was an avid reader who valued literature and volunteered her time at the Oneida Public Library. Regina was an accomplished classical pianist and sports fan, especially enjoying hockey and football. She loved all animals, especially her cats, and was a staunch supporter of animal welfare organizations. Perhaps her greatest love was knitting and sewing, creating beautiful pieces for her family and enjoying days filled with friendship and laughter with the girls at Cottons, Etc. Reggie was an extraordinary woman with a heart of gold. The family would like to express their gratitude to Regina's extended family and friends who lovingly supported and cared for her throughout her courageous battle against cancer. Surviving are her two sisters, Janette Dalkiewicz of Sherrill and Eleanor D. Anton of Fayetteville, one brother Norbert (Keris) Dalkiewicz of Hobe Sound, FL., niece and goddaughter Mary Catherine Anton of Syracuse, nephew John J. (Terrie) Anton of Manlius, and great-nephews Justin and Hunter. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Helena's Cemetery where Fr. Richard Kapral will celebrate the prayers of Christina Burial. There will be no calling hours.
