Obituary of Florence M. Richards
Vernon-Florence M. Richards, age 84, of Youngs Road passed away Wednesday morning November 9, 2022 in St. Joseph's Hospital of Syracuse with her loving family at her side.
She was born in Verona, New York at her parents home on August 4, 1938 a daughter of the late Wesley and Carolyn (Nash) Durant and graduated from the Vernon Verona Sherrill Schools.
On October 29, 1955 Florence and Ralph E. Richards were united in marriage at the Parkside United Methodist Church of Vernon Center and have shared this loving devotion of over sixty-seven years together.
Florence enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, sewing, cooking, and jigsaw puzzles. She was a loving and nurturing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed each and every moment spent with her family.
She was a member of the Lairdsville United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Ralph E. Richards, fours daughters and sons-in-law, Robin (Randy) Frierson of Houston, TX, Marie (Mike) Masi of Vernon, Jackie (Eli) Debs of Austin, TX and Pam (Mike) Smith of Oneida, daughter-in-law, Kim Richards of Vernon, two brothers, Dale Durant and Warren Durant, sisters, Rita Seamon, Carol Way, Jean Chmeilewski and Donna Zimmerman, and several adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Florence was predeceased by two sons, Donald R. Richards and Benjamin W. Richards, granddaughter Christina M. Masi, her siblings Peter Durant, Stanley Durant, Jerry Durant, Joy Twiss and Nancy Eastman.
Funeral services will be private for the family.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at the Lairdsville United Methodist Church, State 6925 State Rt 5, Clinton, NY, 13323. Burial will be at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vernon, NY. In Florence's memory donations may be made to Lupus Research Alliance or National Heart Association.
