Obituary of Audrey M. Makarchuk

Verona - Audrey Mae Makarchuk, age 93, formerly of Moore Road and more recently of the Eastern Star Home passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, April 28, 2023 at the nursing facility, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 2, 1929 in Rome, New York where she lived with her grandparents, Philip and Elizabeth Staple. She was the daughter of Marie Inez (Staple) Klubens and stepdaughter of Albert Klubens. She was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. On November 8, 1947, Audrey and Paul Makarchuk were united in marriage in Rome, NY and shared that sacred vow for sixty-seven years together until Paul's death on November 4, 2014. Audrey was a devoted member of the Verona United Methodist Church and the church's "Ladies Circle". She enjoyed gardening and sewing but her life's focus was on her family that she adored and loved with all her heart. Surviving to mourn are her six children and their spouses, David and Sally Makarchuk, Paula and Gregory Iannello, Tamara and Jeffrey Imobersteg, Barbara and Michael Southcott, Peter and Rev. Cindy Makarchuk, and Paul Jr. and Joanne Makarchuk. She was also blessed with twenty-one grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren, one sister, Norma (Peter) Bullock, two sisters-in-law, Mary Abreu and Arda Makarchuk, one brother-in-law Nicholas (Ann) Makarchuk and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon, NY. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Verona United Methodist Church, 5694 E. Main Street, Verona, NY, 13478. Burial will follow in Verona Cemetery, E. Main Street, Verona, NY.
