Obituary of John J. Schramm

Vernon-John J. "Jim" Schramm, age 82 of Vernon passed away Tuesday, afternoon September 19, 2023, at the Oneida Healthcare with his loving family at his side. He was born on April 30, 1941 in Oneida, New York a son of the late Harold H. And Mildred (Drobnica) Schramm and attended the Camden Schools. On April 19, 1960 Jim enlisted with the United States Army and was honorably discharged on May 9, 1962. Jim and Helen M. Yaddaw were united in marriage on August 10, 1963, at St. Catherine's Church of Vernon and have shared that sacred vow of over fifty years together. Prior to his retirement in 1997 Jim was employed as a machinist with the Westmoor Limited of Sherrill. In his spare time, he enjoyed baking, wood working and dancing. He was a member of Holy Family Church of Vernon, Rome Moose Lodge 901 and William Russell American Legion Post 404 of Vernon. Surviving is his wife, Helen M. Schramm of Vernon, one sister Rosemary Hartman of Summerville, NC, brother-in-law, Gary Yaddaw of Vernon, sister-in-law, Mary Strain, his nieces and nephews Kathleen Condon, Theresa Coco, Brian Hartman, Paul (Chris) Hartman, Jeffery (Caroline) Strain, David Strain, also several other nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Jim Vanderhoof and the 4th floor staff and the ICU staff. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Spirit of Hope Church (Holy Family) 4352 Peterboro Street, Vernon, NY. Burial followed in St. Helena's Cemetery, 1776 Middle Road, Oneida, NY.
