Obituary of Brian R. Eastwood
Canastota-Brian R. "Beaver" Eastwood, age 81, of South Court Street, passed away peacefully Sunday morning December 10, 2023 in the comfort of his home surrounded by the love and care of his family.
He was born on April 9, 1942 in Rome, New York a son of the late Edwin and Betty (Kessler) Eastwood and was a graduate of Holland Patent Schools.
On August 9, 1962 Beaver enlisted with the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on September 8, 1966.
On March 5, 1988 Brian and Daryl L. Hoppel were united in marriage in Oneida, NY and have shared this thirty-five-year union together.
Prior to his retirement Beaver was employed as a millwright and welder with the Oneida Limited Silversmiths retiring in 1998.
Brian was a very active member of the American Legion Post 230 of Sherrill where he served three terms as past commander, past post adjutant and was a past member of the post color guard.
In his spare time, he enjoyed camping and hunting with his friends.
Surviving is his wife, Daryl L. Eastwood of Canastota, daughters, Kathy Leland of Syracuse, Sherri (Douglas) Loucks of Vernon Center, Lorrie (Mark) Reylea of Liverpool, Candy Huveldt (Kevin Weaver) of Syracuse, Penny Patterelli of Canastota, Melanie (Bill) Whitaker of Nashville, TN and son Garry (Taren) Urtz Jr of Oriskany Falls, one sister, Sandra Glynn and one brother, David (Faye) Eastwood, eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and several nephews.
Brian was predeceased by his mother and stepfather, Betty and George Maycock, father Edwin Eastwood and brother Paul Eastwood.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc. 464 Sherrill Rd., Sherrill, NY. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home immediately following calling hours with military honors then to follow. Because of the weather private burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Middle Road, Oneida, NY. In lieu of flowers please send donations in Brian's memory to the America Legion Post 230, 168 E.
