Obituary of Marjorie K. Coleman
Sherrill-Vernon-Marjorie K. Coleman, age 90, of Noyes Manor and formerly of Skyline Drive Vernon passed away peacefully Monday, April 1, 2024, at her home.
She was born in Vernon on December 28, 1933, a daughter of the late Roy J. and Elizabeth (Williams) Kitchen and graduated in 1950 with the last graduating class of Vernon High School.
Marjorie and Ronald F. Coleman were united in marriage in the Vernon United Methodist Church in 1955 and shared that loving forty-five-year vow until Ronald's death on March 23, 2000. They spent more than 25 years running the family farm on Skyline Drive. Following retirement from farming, Marge worked for Mohawk Valley Perinatal Network retiring in 2009. She loved children and worked with children her entire life. She was a longtime active member of the Lairdsville United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, worship leader and treasure. Marge was a past Grand Officer of the Eastern Star and past 4 H Leader for thirteen years.
Surviving is her one daughter Darlene (William) Deecher of Quakertown, PA, two sons, Daniel (Leona) Coleman of Savona, NY and William D. (Susan) Coleman of Sherrill, six grandchildren, five great grandchild, two sisters, Carolyn Peck of New Hartford and Bonnie Barrett of Clark Mills. The family would like to give special thanks to the loving care provided by Bonnie Barrett, Shannon Kent, Makaylah Waligur, Mary Planow, DeDe Kitchen and Steven Coleman. Marge leaves behind her special companion Spotty. Marge was predeceased by her husband, Ronald, son Mark R. Coleman and sisters, Joan Lampman, Sally Lawton, Virginia Malara and Joyce Kitchen.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home, 23 Front Street, Vernon, NY. Please join the family at the Sherrill American Legion on Saturday at 12:15 p.m. for a luncheon and celebration of life. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Rt. 5 Vernon, NY.
