Obituary of Janice L. DeLuke

Oneida-Janice L. DeLuke, age 73, of Union Street passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, June 22, 2024 in the Abraham House of Rome after a courageous two years battle with cancer. She was born on April 12, 1951 in Herkimer, New York and was a graduate of the Frankfort Schools before graduating from Oswego State College with a cum laude degree in primary education. On May 27, 1978 Janice and Robert DeLuke were united in marriage in Frankfort, New York and have shared this loving and sacred vow for forty-six years together. Janice had various job titles in her working career starting at the Oneida Daily Dispatch and was the admin assistant at the Canastota Library for fourteen years. She was a member of the Zonta Club and the Oneida Hospital Auxiliary. Her biggest passion in life was her love for animals and supported the SPCA and other animal societies. She most enjoyed times spent with her canine companions Opal and Jade. Surviving is her loving husband Robert DeLuke of Oneida, one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jody and John Tibbetts of Long Island, bother-in-law Nick Vivacqua of Frankfort, two aunts, Joan Cole of Rochester and Ida DeLuke of Ilion and several nieces and nephews. Janice was predeceased by her parents and sister-in-law Toni Ann Vivacqua. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 347 Main St., Oneida, NY with Rev. James Buttner officiating.
