Obituary of Joyce E. Trunko

Verona-Joyce E, Trunko, age 93, of Rock Road passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, July 1, 2024 in the Oneida Health Hospital after a very brief stay surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on April 23, 1931 in Rome, New Yok a daughter of the late Leon and Della (Duff) Fike and was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. On September 10, 1949 Joyce and Louis J. Trunko were united in marriage in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church of Rome and shared that sacred vow of over sixty-nine years together until Louis' death on September 17, 2018. Joyce was a member of the Verona Ladies Auxiliary, the Verona Garden Club, and was a member of the Mohican Model A Club with her husband and also enjoyed playing cards with the Verona Seniors. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church of Verona. Surviving are her three daughters and sons-in-law, Lou Ann and Robert Jones of Vernon, Mary and David Blair of Sherrill and Diane and Peter Tallini of Durhamville; her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas M. and Patricia Trunko of Verona; twelve grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Joyce was predeceased by her parents, husband Louis and sister Leona Leichty A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday July 5, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. from Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Verona, where the mass will be celebrated by the Reverend Edmund Castronovo, pastor. Interment will be in Verona Cemetery, Verona, NY. Calling hours will be private.
