Obituary of Donald J. Pawlikowski

Donald J. Pawlikowski, 75, of Vernon passed away on July 14th, 2024, peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. He was born on November 27th, 1948, in Rome, the son of Peter and Anna (Krochmaluk) Pawlikowski. He was a graduate of Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School, Class of 1966. On July 29th, 1989, Donald was united in marriage to Paula Vanderwerken in Utica, NY. He spent his career as a Registered Nurse working for NYS for over 30 years. Don was a devoted Husband and Father. He enjoyed spending his time boating and fishing with his family at their camp on the St. Lawrence River. When not at their camp, Don could be found tinkering in his garage, helping family and friends with handy projects, and in the fall, rooting for the Buffalo Bills. Surviving besides his loving wife of 35 years, Paula; their children Geoffrey Pawlikowski (Michelle Gardner), of Philadelphia, PA, Christopher (Becki) Pawlikowski, of Whitesboro, Amanda (Ryan) Mulholland of Rensselaerville and his daughters Suzanne (Russel) Brown, and Melissa Pawlikowski of North Carolina. One Brother, three sisters-in-law, and one brother-in-law Robert and Kelly Pawlikowski of Durhamville, Mary Ann Pawlikowski of Baldwinsville, Dawn Yerkie of Vernon and Garold Vanderwerken Jr. of Vernon. Also surviving are his grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and numerous friends. Don was predeceased by his parents Peter and Anna Pawlikowski, brother Peter D. Pawlikowski and sister Barbara Reed. Don's family would like to send their sincere appreciation to all members of his healthcare team throughout the years, and a special thank you to his personal nurse Rachel Przybylski. Calling hours will be held on Saturday July 20th, 2024, from 10am-12pm at the Malecki Funeral Home, 23 Front Street, Vernon, NY. There will be no funeral service.
