Vernon-Carol A. Russ, age 90, of State Route 5 passed on Friday, August 17, 2024 away from the heart break of losing her husband Donald on January 29, 2024.

She was born on March 2, 1934 in Oneida New York a daughter of the late E. Joseph and Helen (Tackabury) Scribner and attended the Oneida schools.

On March 8, 1952 Carol and Donald J. Russ Sr. were united in marriage at the First United Methodist Church of Oneida and shared that loving vow of over seventy years together.

In their spare times the couple enjoyed camping, boating and most especially horseback riding.

Carol is survived by her, children, John Russ (Kathy) of Georgia, Mark Russ (Mary) of Richfield Springs, Donald Russ Jr. of Rome, Michael Russ (Sandra) of Oneida, Suzanne Hill (Mark) of Albany, 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother and sister-in-law, David (Mary) Scribner of Verona Beach, her sisters-in-law, Ruthie Donald of Oneida, Ellie Pettigrew of Oneida, Fran Joseph of Sherrill, Linda Widger of Canastota and Deberah Cary of Canastota and several nieces and nephews.

The family invited friends to call on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon, NY. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood Ave., Oneida, NY.
