Obituary of Dawn E. Strong
Please share a memory of Dawn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dawn E. Strong, age 73, a lifelong resident of Knoxboro, passed away unexpectedly on August 20, 2024.
Dawn was born on May 4, 1951, the daughter of the late Ernest and Beatrice Eaton. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 32 years, Sheldon Strong.
Dawn graduated from Madison Central School in 1969 and worked at Access Federal Credit Union before retiring from Oneida Ltd. She also worked part-time as an activity coordinator at Harding Nursing Home in Waterville, mostly to be closer to her mother, who was a resident then.
Dawn's love for sports was infectious. She adored attending her grandchildren's sporting events, rooting for the Atlanta Braves, and watching March Madness while always cheering on the Syracuse Orange. Her passion for sports was only surpassed by her love for her family. She cherished spending time with her family, looking forward to game nights with her grandchildren, and spending quality time with her sons. Whenever family came over, she ensured there was always a cold drink and a sweet treat available.
Dawn will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family and her willingness to share a laugh. She never fully recovered from losing the love of her life, Sheldon, and would talk about him as often as she could. She was a great caregiver and worked tirelessly to take care of her parents as they aged until their passing. Dawn was a strong and independent woman and is now at peace after being reunited with her husband and parents.
Surviving are her two sons, Mark (Veronica) Strong of Remsen and Michael (Kati) Strong of Knoxboro, her beloved grandchildren, Taylor, Peyton, Baileigh, Brady, Rylee, Josephine, and Carrick Strong. She also leaves behind, her brother Richard (Martha) Eaton, several nieces and nephews, and many lifelong friends.
