I was lucky to live next door to Alberta from age 7 until I moved out of my parents' home after graduating college. Moving to a new state at such a young age was frightening, but Alberta was certainly one of the best things about our new home! I loved everything about her, and I couldn't wait to get over to her house every day! Alberta was always making me laugh with her stories and sarcasm, and she often times took my sister and I to the local swimming hole. I can remember jumping in her VW bug without a care in the world except what music we were going to play on the jukebox when she gave us quarters! Swimming and sitting on her back patio playing cards at night were my most fond memories with her. Alberta treated me like a young adult, and I loved her like no other. She was like family, and I'm so blessed to have had those years with her. My only regret is not keeping in touch with her after she moved back to New York. I just know she would have been proud of the woman I became and would have loved my children, doting on them as she did me. Until we meet again.....

You were one of the greatest people in my childhood! You and Uncle Bill were shining stars in my early development though to my adult years. I will neverforget the lessons, love, gardens, and life tools that were able to help me navigate through life.
You were my rock and I looked forward to every summer with you!
I am angry that we distanced each other and that you never met my children but there are many ways I will pass your essence along to my children: preparing meals, gardening, and structured chores.
So many things I wanted to share with you and so many calls left unreturned. I missed your beautiful smile by 30 minutes and I am sad!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for being in my life.
I love you!!

I was away and came home to hear of my sweet Alberta's passing. I am grieved at the loss of such a courageous and steadfast woman-what an example.
Love and warm thoughts to her family, especially Brenda and dear brother George.
